Rufino Tamayo's figural approach was more fractured, schematic, and abstract than figurative realism allowed, synthesizing influences from Mexican and international sources including Cubism and Surrealism. Fernando Botero presents an exaggerated, satirical mirror on society and human excesses. Agustín Cárdenas' sculptural surrealism defies perceptions of space and matter through organic, abstract forms. Emma Reyes invites viewers to decipher hidden narratives woven into her intricate patterns of continuous lines and colors.
